SPRING BREAK!

Over the break

Commercial ONE: Destination photography project. You're shooting a spread for a travel magazine.  Make sure to find an angle for you project. An "angle" in editorial lingo means to find a defined focus or direction to the story.

For example-

Travel Phoenix: "Emerging Arts Hub of the New West". So your story would focused on what a tourist would see if they explore the Phoenix Arts scene.

Travel Phoenix: "Urban Park for all". This story would focus on urban outdoor activities available in the metro area.  Hiking, biking, urban park fishing, boating, roving (Tempe Town Lake).

Travel Phoenix: "Western Model of Experimental Architecture." Obviously you would need to do some research. You would have to find models of experimental architecture in Phoenix. (There are many!)

MUST HAVE GOOD LIGHT NO MATTER THE ANGLE

PS. If you're having a difficult time finding an angle, feel free to use one of the above options.

Commercial TWO: Documentary Project. Document a place, a time, a person, an event, an age related to life, politics, sports, illness, victory, loss etc. You get the idea. You must make us see the importance of your subject through the story you tell.  Remember this doesn't need to be a "traditional" documentary project. But you want us to connect to the story.  Reveal the human components.

For both classes - If you all put a lot into these kind of assignments you should  leave the project knowing a lot more about the subject then you did going into it.

Good Luck

Matt
